Windows Tutorial
- Download for all candidates except Cardiovascular Disease

This tutorial illustrates the the new look and function of the Cardiovascular Disease exam.
NOTICE: This tutorial was updated on October 1, 2007. The download will not open, but will place a shortcut called "ABIM Tutorial" on your desktop and in your start menu . You may need administrator rights to install the tutorial. In that case, contact your institution's IT staff because local security controls may be restricting your access to the tutorial.

Requirements for Windows
- Pentium III PC or compatible, 1 GHz (Pentium 4, 2 GHz recommended). Macintosh computers are not supported
- 512 MB of RAM
- 60 MB of empty hard disk space
- Microsoft Windows XP or 2000 (home or professional version), English edition. The content appears only in English
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 or higher
- Super VGA (800 x 600) or higher resolution monitor (1024 x 768 recommended), with high color (16 bit)
- Microsoft compatible mouse or pointing device
- Internet access is not required when viewing the tutorial or demonstration tests
- Note: You might need power user or administrator rights to install the tutorial
Macintosh Tutorial
- Download for all candidates
- There is no macintosh version for the Cardiovascular Disease tutorial at this time. You will have the chance to view the tutorial for 30 minutes on exam day.
- Caliper Tool
The caliper does not work with the Macintosh operating system.
Requirements for Macintosh
This version of the ABIM Flash demo requires a PowerPC-based Macintosh computer, OS 8.6 or higher, at least 64 MB RAM, and at least 10 MB available hard disk space. The monitor size should be set to at least 800 x 600 pixels.
- Click on the tutorial link to download the ABIM Flash Demo.
- The file may automatically begin downloading to your desktop OR a dialog box will appear asking you to save the demo. If you see a dialog box, click on the Save button and then save the file to your desktop. Wait for the file to download completely.
- Once the file has downloaded, it will automatically "unstuff" and a folder labeled "ABIM Flash Demo" will appear on your desktop.*
- Double click on this folder to open it. Then double click on the file called "ABIMFlashDemo" to launch the demo application.
* If the file does not automatically unstuff, you may need to download the FREE Stuffit Expander, from the Aladdin Systems Web page. If you experience technical difficulties using the tutorial, you may contact ABIM at the Contact Us page.
TopPreparing to take the Adolescent Medicine Exam
Begin with the Adolescent Medicine Tutorial. Take time to view the online exam demonstrations on the American Board of Pediatrics website. The demonstrations are intended to familiarize you with the computer environment that you will experience at Thompson Prometric, which administers the exam for the American Board of Pediatrics. You will be given an opportunity to view the tutorial again on examination day prior to the beginning of your exam. The demonstration is ONLY to familiarize you with the computer environment you will experience at the Thompson Prometric testing center and NOT the content of your examination.
To view the tutorial and the exam demonstration:
- Go to the American Board of Pediatrics website.
- In the box for "Recertification PMCP," click on Information About PMCP.
- Click on Examination Demo.
