Reward & Recognition Programs
Many health plans reward and/or recognize diplomates enrolled in Maintenance of Certification (MOC) and who regularly complete program activities such as ABIM PIMs Practice Improvement Modules®. PIMs provide physicians a way to measure the quality of care they deliver and then use resulting data to improve care.
Health plans benefit from recognizing and rewarding physicians who are committed to quality improvement. View specific examples of how health plans reward and recognize their physicians.
How does it work?
Physicians with a valid ABIM certificate, who are enrolled in ABIM's MOC program, once they have completed a PIM can send PIM completion information to a participating health plan with whom they are contracted. No patient data from the PIM is transmitted, only a notice of completion. The physician will then receive either special recognition in a provider directory or, in some instances, a financial reward for completing the PIM.
