ABIM Measures Library

ABIM has compiled a library of more than 500 clinical measures relevant to internists and subspecialists. This should make it easier for diplomates to complete the Self-Directed and Completed Project PIMs.

The source of these measures is a wide range of quality improvement organizations, including:

  • Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI)
  • Joint Commission
  • National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA)
  • Physician Consortium for Performance Improvement (PCPI)
  • Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS), formerly Physician Quality Reporting Initiative (PQRI)
  • Specialty societies (e.g., American College of Cardiology, American Society of Hematology and the American Society for Clinical Oncology)

The measures have been separated based on practice setting – in-patient or out-patient – then organized into sets by disease, condition or other relevant topics.

For example:

The in-patient cardiac group includes:

  • Acute Myocardial Infarction
  • Chronic Heart Failure
  • Stroke

The out-patient chronic illness group includes:

  • Asthma
  • Back pain
  • Hepatitis C
