Local Physicians Elected to American Board of Internal Medicine Board of Directors

Philadelphia, PA, July 6, 2006 – Two physicians who practice medicine in Philadelphia have been elected to the Board of Directors at the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The announcement was made at a meeting held in conjunction with ABIM’s 70th anniversary.

Richard J. Baron, MD, a member of the current ABIM Board, has been elected Secretary/Treasurer. Dr. Baron is President of Greenhouse Internists, PC, in Mt. Airy.

Robert M. Kotloff, MD, a member of the Board’s subspecialty committee, was elected as chair to ABIM’s pulmonary disease subspecialty board. Dr. Kotloff is Professor of Medicine and Chief, Section of Advanced Lung Disease and Lung Transplantation, at the University of Pennsylvania Health System.

The ABIM Board of Directors is comprised of 29 physicians who are board certified in internal medicine or one of its disciplines. The appointments, which became effective July 1, also included:

• Holly J. Humphrey, MD, Professor of Medicine and Dean for Medical Education at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine

• Donald E. Wesson, MD, Professor of Medicine and Physiology and Chairman, Department of Internal Medicine at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center

• Joseph E. Craft, MD, Professor of Medicine and Immunobiology and Chief, Section of Rheumatology, Yale University School of Medicine
• Stuart L. Linas, MD, Professor of Medicine, University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and Chief, Division of Nephrology, Denver Health Medical Center
