BoardCertified.com is not affiliated with or endorsed by ABIM or ABMS

The American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the umbrella group of the 24 approved medical specialty boards in the United States, including ABIM, has learned from diplomates about fax messages they have received from an entity called "BoardCertified.com."

The message displays, without permission, the ABMS and AMA federally registered marks and purports to be a "Renewal Notice." It states that if the form and a fee is not completed and returned to BoardCertified.com by a certain date, the recipient's "membership" will expire, and "online listing" will be deactivated.

ABIM wishes to communicate the following important points to its diplomates:

  1. These fax messages are misleading. BoardCertified.com is not affiliated with ABMS, the AMA or the ABIM and has no authorization to act on their behalf.
  2. A failure to return the BoardCertified.com form or pay any money to BoardCertified.com will NOT affect a diplomate's Certification information or status in the ABIM database or the ABMS Database. Information will remain accessible to the general public at the "Who's Certified" section of abms.org and on other board sites, including abim.org.
  3. BoardCertified.com should not be confused with the official online ABMS directory, "BoardCertifiedDocs.com", published by Elsevier.

The ABMS and the AMA are aggressively addressing BoardCertified.com’s solicitation. Diplomates who have questions or concerns about these fax messages from BoardCertified.com should contact Rob Nelson at ABMS, 847-491-9091, extension 3005, or by email at rnelson@abms.org.
