Medical Simulation Technology Offers Interventional Cardiologists New
Self-Evaluation Opportunity
Cardiologists now have a new way to earn 20 Self–Evaluation of Medical Knowledge points for Maintenance of Certification. Interventional Cardiology Simulations, the first ABIM–developed catheterization lab simulation, provides an opportunity to perform procedures that an interventional cardiologist typically encounters in daily practice.
Medical Simulation Corporation’s SimSuite® technology replicates a catheterization lab suite, and the five case scenarios developed by ABIM cover a range of difficulty and include common problems faced by interventional cardiologists. All ABIM–certified physicians enrolled in Maintenance of Certification can register now. The cost of the simulation session is covered by your Maintenance of Certification fee, but you are responsible for the cost of travel to the education center.
SimSuite® Education Center Locations:
- Duke University Medical Center (Durham, NC)
- Swedish Heart Institute at Swedish Medical Center (Seattle, WA)
- University of California Davis Medical Center (Sacramento, CA)
- Riverside Methodist Hospital (Columbus, OH)
- Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia, PA) (part-time)
- Methodist Hospital (Houston, TX) (part-time)
Simulations are also available at several cardiology meetings and conferences throughout the year. While registration for the education center at ACC-i2/SCAI is now closed, you can still plan to participate during Vascular Interventional Advances (VIVA) in September 2008 and at Transcatheter Cardiac Therapeutics (TCT) in October 2008. Register now.
