Signing on Using Your Candidate Number
Candidate numbers are assigned to individuals as their training is reported to the Board from their program director. Once certified, your candidate number becomes your certificate number. If you have previously been certified or registered for an examination, you can find this number recorded on your certificate and/or most Board documents. If you do not have or do not know your ABIM candidate number, then you may sign on using your U.S. social security number.
Signing On Using Your Social Security Number
The Board has a record of most U.S. Residents and Fellows through their training. You may login using your U.S. social security number. Enter your SSN without any hyphens or punctuation along with your password.
- Like This000000000
- Not This000-00-0000
If you are a first time applicant who is completing or has completed training in Canada, a record of your training may not be in the Board's database. Similarly, some U.S. Resident's and Fellow's training records may not have been provided to the Board. If you receive a message that your U.S. social security number is not found, or your do not have a U.S. social security number and do not yet have an ABIM candidate number, please contact Information Services at 1-800-441-2246 ext. 3598 to request access to the physician login.

TopSite Security
Secure Socket Layer (SSL) Encryption
ABIM utilizes SSL encryption to help ensure that the data sent between your desktop and ABIM's website cannot be seen by others as it travels over the insecure Internet. This is important since confidential information such as your password is being transmitted.
What do I need in order to use SSL Encryption?
You need a web browser that supports SSL, such as Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0 or later or Netscape Navigator 4.0 or later. Your computer's browser must be set to allow the encryption.
Your connection to the Internet must allow SSL connections. Often organizations that access the Internet directly from a LAN have firewalls or proxy servers installed which may be configured to block SSL access (TCP/IP port 443). Some operating systems can also be configured to block SSL access. Check with your Internet provider and/or local systems adminstrator to verify that your system does not have SSL blocked.
