One of the tools ABIM offers to complete the practice performance requirements is the ABIM PIMsm Practice Improvement Module. Use the "Choose a PIM" tool below to get data requirements and credit information for each PIM.

PIMs Credits for Clinically Active Physicians Without a Practice

If you currently supervise residents or fellows, you can utilize PIMs in either of the following ways.

  • Complete a PIM on your own, using your trainees' patients.
  • Earn Maintenance of Certification credit for residents/fellows who complete a PIM under your supervision.

If you have administrative responsibility for patients, you can complete a PIM using data from the same patients regardless of practice location.

PIM Credits for Clinically Inactive Physicians

If you have no patients or no access to patient data, either directly or indirectly, you can complete the Essentials of Quality Improvement module. You must complete a Practice Characteristic Profile and attest that you have no direct or indirect patient responsbility.
