Medical Societies & PIMs
Increasingly, medical societies are becoming active in many areas of quality improvement. Through the development of quality measures, quality improvement programs, clinical registries and other activities, medical societies are vital partners in ABIM's mission to enhance the quality of health care.
Current programs with direct links to ABIM's Maintenance of Certification program include:
- Physicians can use measures provided by The American College of Cardiology: National Cardiovascular Data Registry (ACC-NCDR) to fulfill their self-evaluation of practice performance requirements for ABIM Maintenance of Certification by completing the Self-Directed PIM.
- Physicians can use the Practice Improvement Modules provided by The American College of Rheumatology to fulfill their self-evaluation of practice performance requirements for ABIM Maintenance of Certification.
- Physicians can use measures provided by The American Society for Clinical Oncology: Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI) to fulfill their self-evaluation of practice performance requirements for ABIM Maintenance of Certification by completing the Self-Directed PIM.
- Physicians can use tools provided by The American Society of Hematology to fulfill their self-evaluation of practice performance requirements for ABIM Maintenance of Certification from within the Self-Directed PIM
