The American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) no longer provides letters of support for trainees seeking J-1 Visa sponsorship through the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduate (ECFMG) for participation in "non-standard" training programs. Requests of this nature should be directed to the ECFMG and/or the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medicine Education (ACGME).
