R-SCAN (Radiology Support, Communication and Alignment Network)

Back to Approved Activities

Description

R-SCAN is a browser-based quality improvement project funded by the CMS Transforming Clinical Practice Initiative that provides tools for radiology groups and referring physician groups to work collaboratively to improve image ordering appropriateness. Physicians assess radiological exam orders to determine the appropriateness rating of those scans, and then collaborate on an educational program using free CME materials provided by the ACR. After the educational program is complete, physicians assess their imaging orders again and are able to track whether the educational program has improved the appropriateness rating for exams ordered.

The R-SCAN program is entirely free to use and open to any physicians interested in improving their image ordering appropriateness.
