New Monthly Notification for MOC Points Earned Expand/Collapse the ABIM alert.

Beginning this fall, ABIM will transition to sending monthly email summaries of CME/MOC points earned instead of immediate notifications. This means you’ll receive fewer emails, while still being able to track your points in real time in your Physician Portal.

ABIM will be closed from 1:00 p.m. Friday, 8/29/25 through Monday, 9/1/25 Expand/Collapse the ABIM alert.

ABIM Announces New Appointments to Board of Directors and Council

Philadelphia, August 4, 2025 — The American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) announced new appointments today to the Board of Directors and ABIM Council.

Robert O. Roswell, MD, FACC, FACP, is the new Chair of the Board. Dr. Roswell is the Associate Dean for Engagement and Excellence, Director of the Cardiac ICU at Lenox Hill, Northwell Health and Professor of Cardiology and Science Education at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell.

“ABIM continues to evolve as the needs of internists change,” said Dr. Roswell. “I am both honored and humbled to be leading the Board at this unique time and to amplify the voices of the physician community. I look forward to continuing the important work we have set out to do to better meet the needs of physicians and to advance health care for all."

Krisda H. Chaiyachati, MD, MPH, MSHP, FACP. Dr. Chaiyachati was appointed to the role of Chair-Elect. He is the National Medical Director for Clinical Transformation at Ascension, the largest nonprofit health system in the United States with more than 2,600 sites of care and more than 130 hospitals across 20 states. 

James A. Rowley, MD, is the newest Director. Dr. Rowley is a Professor of Medicine at Rush University Medical Center in the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine and program director of the Sleep Medicine Fellowship. Dr. Rowley is a longtime leader in the discipline of sleep medicine, having served on the ABIM Sleep Medicine Test-Writing Committee (2009 – 2016) and the Sleep Medicine Longitudinal Knowledge Assessment (LKA®) Approval Committee (2020 – 2023), and as President of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (2023 – 2024).

“The ABIM Board of Directors is intentionally designed to represent important voices from across the field of internal medicine in service of advancing our mission,” said Furman S. McDonald, MD, MPH, President and CEO of ABIM and the ABIM Foundation. “The depth and breadth of experience these leaders bring to our work will help us achieve our aspiration to be of the profession and for the public.”  

The Board of Directors sets the direction, strategy and goals for the organization. The ABIM Council is a cross-disciplinary advisory body that determines certification requirements, policies and procedures across the disciplines of internal medicine.

New members of the ABIM Council include Scharles Konadu, MD, Jesse Milan Jr., JD, Kevin M. O’Neil, MD, and Mandi M. Sehgal, MD, who have all served in previous ABIM Governance roles, and Miguel Park, MD, who is representing the American Board of Allergy and Immunology.
