New Monthly Notification for MOC Points Earned Expand/Collapse the ABIM alert.

Beginning this fall, ABIM will transition to sending monthly email summaries of CME/MOC points earned instead of immediate notifications. This means you’ll receive fewer emails, while still being able to track your points in real time in your Physician Portal.

ABIM will be closed from 1:00 p.m. Friday, 8/29/25 through Monday, 9/1/25 Expand/Collapse the ABIM alert.

Our offices will re-open on Tuesday, 9/2/25 at 8:30 a.m. ET. For your convenience, you may contact us by email at request@abim.org.

As a primary source of verification of certification, ABIM is frequently contacted by credentialists and other entities to verify certification status. Below are guidelines for how you can represent yourself as ABIM Board Certified for all ABIM certifications that are currently valid:

If you hold one valid certification:

[John Doe, MD], ABIM Board Certified in [Internal Medicine]

OR

[Jane Doe, MD], a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine

OR

[Jane Doe, MD], Board Certified in [Cardiovascular Disease] by the American Board of Internal Medicine

If you hold more than one valid certification:

[John Doe, MD], ABIM Board Certified in [Internal Medicine] and [Cardiovascular Disease]

OR

[Jane Doe, MD], a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine

OR

[Jane Doe, MD], Board Certified in [Internal Medicine] and [Cardiovascular Disease] by the American Board of Internal Medicine

ABIM candidates and diplomates are expected to accurately report their certification status and other credentials at all times. Altering ABIM documents (i.e., certificates, Verification of Certification letters or score reports) is strictly prohibited.

If you have any questions about how to state your ABIM certification status, call 1-800-446-ABIM.

Note: If you wish to report a misrepresentation of certification status, please email ABIM's Integrity Team at security@abim.org.
